As its name implies, Communicable Action for Everybody (CAFE) refers to actions that allow everyone to communicate.
It can be pronounced the same way as the word "café," which of course refers to a place or relaxation where people can talk together with a cup of coffee in hand, spending the time as they please.
The CAFÉ in Mito Exhibition is accordingly a project that aims to create a place of exchange, like a cafe, where people can get together and intimate in a relaxed fashion through the medium of art.
The artworks displayed in this exhibition will not merely be hung in the gallery for viewing, but will also be installed throughout the city of Mito, affording more people with the chance to experience art.

The Venice Biennale was founded in 1895 in the Italian city of Venice for the purpose of making cultural and humanistic contributions from an international perspective.
Since then, the international art exhibition has been held almost every other year; with its history of more than a century, it is the world's oldest continuous art festival.
One salient characteristic of the Venice Biennale is the holding of exhibitions in individual national pavilions, as well as an international exhibition that transcends national borders.
By introducing artists and works that stand at the forefront of the era, the Biennale serves as a venue for illustrating the current trends in the world of art.
Japan participated at Venice for the first time in 1952 (at the 26th Exhibition), and was the first Asian country to have its own pavilion (at the 28th Exhibition in 1956).
ATM's exhibition, held from October to December at the Contemporary Art Gallery, focuses on those artists participating in Japan's representation to the Biennale (i.e., from 1952) who have had connections to Ibaraki Prefecture.
Their artworks will be displayed in a way that educates viewers about the relationship of each work with its respective era and the new forms of art that emerged then, thus impressing them with the wide variety of artistic expression that flourished in the latter half of the 20th century.

Claude Lévêque, born in France in 1953, has been celebrated as a leading representative of his country's art following the generation of such artists as Daniel Buren and Christian Boltanski .
The ATM exhibition to be held from December to March of next year is the first full-scale exhibition of Lévêque's works in Japan.
He will design a new work especially for the exhibition so as to match the special spatial characteristics of the Contemporary Art Gallery.
Since the 1980s, Lévêque has produced nostalgic artworks that employ photographs and light, rooted in his own personal memories.
However, more recently he has shifted towards the creation of giant installations intended to stimulate the five senses through the use of sound, light, and mist.
The "viewers" of his works can thus experience them with their whole bodies and not just their eyes.
At ATM, Lévêque plans to put on an experiential type of exhibition that uses neon lights, moving images, and sound.
