Ever since the advent of the 1980s, contemporary dance has developed and continued to change: it has moved away from a simple, one-sided expression of a fairy tale or a single person's emotions, as well as away from a simple swaying of the body to the beat of the music, and now portrays our existence in the complicated and/or incoherent "now."

The new work "Origami" first debuted in 1998, produced by ACM and the choreographer, Hervé Robb. Based on the "Music of the Body" which was originally performed at ATM, the current production has been revised to include the participation of French dancers. It also makes full use of images in addition to the dancers dancing on the stage. Featuring the interplay between Japanese and French people, men and women, men and men, women and women, bodies and images, reality and fiction, "Orogami" extracts the individuality and culture from each person and contrasts them in a vivid manner, allowing us once again to discover the place where we stand. Also to be performed in conjunction with "Origami" is the solo work "Polaroïd," choreographed and produced by Hervé Robb. (photo: Gregoire Alexandre)
