Sakumi Hagiwara has been active across various fields such as theatre, film, and essay writing since participating in the launch of the independent theatre troupe “Tenjou Sajiki” led by Shuji Terayama. Masaki Fujihata is recognized as a pioneer of media art, having produced CG and animation works since the 1980s. The talk invites these two individuals deeply involved in video culture as both writers and academics, and asks them to reflect on the activities of Video Gallery SCAN as a base for exchange through video, while also touching upon discourses and contexts surrounding the 1980s to the 1990s which had been underlined by the intermixing of various cultures.
