Toyoshima studied violin under Toshiya Etoh and Angela Etoh at the Toho Gakuen Music High School and the Toho Gakuen College of Music. He was appointed concertmaster of the New Japan Philharmonic in the same year that he graduated, at the young age of 22, since when he has been active as a soloist and as the key player in many chamber music projects. Toyoshima currently serves as guest solo concertmaster of the New Japan Philharmonic, concertmaster of the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra, and concertmaster laureate of The Kyushu Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he made his debut as a conductor in March 2004, and has increasingly expanded his ambitious activities in that direction. At Art Tower Mito, Toyoshima has belonged to the in-house group, the ATM Ensemble, since the establishment of the arts complex in 1990, and has been a member of MCO since 2007. In MCO’s third European tour in 2008, shen Seiji Ozawa, the group's musical adviser, suddenly fell ill and could not participate in the tour any longer, Toyoshima brilliantly led the directorless group to great success on the tour as its concertmaster.

Philippe Tondre

Born in Mulhouse, France, in 1989, Tondre began studying the oboe at the age of six. He entered the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris at the age of 15, studying with David Walter, and obtained his Masters Degree with distinction in 2010. Tondre is prizewinner of all the major international competitions. In 2008 he won third prize in the Prague Spring International Competition as well as the Gustav Mahler Prize for the youngest finalist, awarded by the Mahler Association 2000. In 2009 Tondre won first prize in the Fernand Gillet – Hugo Fox Oboe Competition and that same year went on to win second prize in the International Oboe Competition of Karuizawa, organized by the Sony Music Foundation. In 2010 he was awarded third prize in the 65th Geneva International Music Competition. In 2011 Philippe won the 60th ARD International Music Competition Munich, as well as the audience prize and the special prize for the best interpretation of a commissioned composition.
Tondre has appeared as soloist and chamber musician with leading orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra Munich, the South West Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the New Mozart Orchestra London and the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra. He has worked with such eminent conductors as Seiji Ozawa, Sir Roger Norrington, Sir Colin Davis, Sir Neville Marriner, Myung Whun Chung, Neeme Jarvi, Herbert Blomstedt, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Marek Janowski.
In 2012, after his successful debut at the Beethoven Festival Bonn, Philippe Tondre was awarded the prestigious Beethoven Ring Prize. In June 2013 he made his debut in the Philharmonie in Berlin playing Bohuslav Martinu's Concerto for Oboe accompanied by the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin.
Tondre is the principal oboe of the SWR Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the former principal oboe of the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, member of the Mito Chamber Orchestra and the Saito Kinen Orchestra and member of the newly-founded Kammer Ensemble de Paris.
In 2015 Philippe Tondre was nominated Professor for Oboe at the Hochschule für Musik Saar.
