An exhibition of the Mito Annual series.
It proposed an open system in which to reconsider the situation of so-called "autistic" Japanese contemporary art. In its background, this project was based on the "open system" theory propounded by Ilya Prigozine, a Nobel Prize winner in chemistry. According to the theory, which is not confined to thermodynamics, an ecological system on the earth, a system of thought, a national system and all other systems are in a state of chaos or are ever more rapidly falling into it, and in deepening confusion, any system ends up or reorganizes itself into a new order, depending on whether this system is closed or open to its external environment.
The exhibition selected four artists who never got bound to their nationality, culture, race, sex or artistic genre but tied their expression to society, culture and human existence and closely linked it with the depths of their minds as well.
