Several representative Japanese musicians will combine forces with musicians who have connections to Ibaraki Prefecture to give an extravaganza year-end concert that is sure to lift one's spirits. They will perform the choral work "A Ceremony of Carols" by the British composer Benjamin Britten, the 100th anniversary of whose birth is being celebrated this year, along with a number of Christmas favorites. The classical composer Shin-ichiro Ikebe plans and leads the concert starting this year, following in the footsteps of the late Ryosuke Hatanaka, who long served as the director-general of ATM's music division, and who had planned and organized the Christmas Present Concert ever since ATM's opening in 1990.
