Rafał Blechacz Piano Recital
November 14 (Thu), 2019 Start 19:00, Open 18:30
Rafał Blechacz, born in Poland in 1985, was the sole recipient of all five first prizes at the 15th International Frederick Chopin Competition held in Warsaw in 2005. He has steadily built up his career since then, and has now established a reputation as one of the world’s greatest pianists. The November recital will mark his first appearance at Art Tower Mito. Incidentally, at the 4th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in 2003, Blechacz remained in the running as a dark-horse competitor until the very end, eventually capturing the highest prize awarded (second prize, with no one getting first prize that year). That incident inspired the Japanese novelist, ONDA Riku, to write her best-selling novel, “Mitsubachi to Enrai (Honeybees and Distant Thunder),” as a serial novel from 2009 to 2016.
