Recitation Studio ／ Students’ Final Performance

Instructors: Haruhiko Jo (actor, director, leader of the acting troupe “Za”)

This is the ninth year in which a recitation studio led by Haruhiko Jo—a leading figure in the Japanese theater world—will be held at ATM. Along with fellow instructors, he will give individualized lessons to the participants in a no-holds-barred manner. After getting training in elementary diction and the basics of interpreting works, the students in the ten-month course will assiduously work toward their final goal of giving a convincing performance to a real audience on stage at ACM Theatre—a dream that many of them have longed for. Comments by the grateful participants include: “It’s worth doing precisely because it’s so strict,” and “It changed my life.” Some Mito citizens have already become “repeat customers” of the studio for many years.
