New Future Support ProjectAiming for a “Musical Mito Komon?” (new)
Dec. 25, 2021 (Sat) to Dec. 26, 2021 (Sun) Start 14:00, Open 13:30
Organization and script: Katsura Inoue
Organization and direction: Akihiro Hashimoto (from Hitachinaka City)
Using the ACM Theatre at Art Tower Mito (ATM) as a platform, several talented Ibaraki-born and -based performance professionals from a variety of genres, including Yuto Adachi—an artist who also serves as an Ibaraki ambassador—stage the first installment of an intermediate-term trial project featuring all-Ibaraki works.
The performance is divided into two sections, the first depicting the struggles of several young people working toward the production of “Musical Mito Komon?” aiming at lifting up the spirits of the local community. The story is written in a so-called continuous drama style, meaning that it does not end this time but will continue to develop further in future installments. Each time, the team manages to overcome various hurdles in preparation for their performance, but will the project really ever be completed? The first section vividly dramatizes the difficulties faced by performers day in and day out. Meanwhile, the second section showcases the various performers giving demonstrations of their particular fields of specialty. Both sections—the drama staged in the first part, and the performances given in the second—are ambitious projects that everyone can enjoy.
