新型コロナウイルス感染症拡大の影響で会期変更を余儀なくされた本展覧会を心待ちにしてくださっている方々にアーティストの声を届けたいという思いから、展覧会の一般公開に先立ち、ピピロッティ・リスト氏のアーティストトークを急遽開催いたします。

Contemporary Art Gallery, Art Tower Mito is temporary closed until August 31st, as part of Mito City’s measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. To encourage the audiences who look forward to the opening of our next exhibition “Pipilotti Rist: Your Eye Is My Island”, we are pleased to invite Pipilotti Rist to join us the online talk and discuss about the exhibition.

The talk will be delivered with Japanese-English consecutive translation.

About the artist:
Pipilotti Rist was born in 1962 in Grabs in the canton of St. Gallen in the northeast of Switzerland. She has been based in Zurich since 2004.
Known for her experimental video art created over the course of a long career from the 1980s to the present, Rist has exhibited at art museums and festivals across the world. Her current exhibition at Contemporary Art Gallery, Art Tower Mito (starting from September 1), which tours from the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, introduces major examples of her work that have ushered in new possibilities for the video medium in contemporary art over more than thirty years, encompassing from early short videos to the immersive large installations.

プロフィール

1962年スイス北東部のザンクト・ガレン州グラブスに生まれる。2004年からスイスのチューリヒを拠点に活動。実験的な映像表現を探究するアーティストとして、1980年代からスイスを拠点に世界各地の美術館や芸術祭で作品を発表してきた。
9月1日からは水戸芸術館現代美術ギャラリーにて個展を開催予定（臨時休館に伴い会期変更）。色彩に満ちた世界をユーモアたっぷりに切り取ってみせる映像や、ベッドやクッションにからだを預ける、食卓を囲むといった遊び心に満ちた映像インスタレーションなど、作品およそ40点を通して、約30年間にわたる活動の全体像が紹介される。
